Dry magnetic separator is mainly used for the separation of magnetite, magnetic pyrite, calcined ore, ilmenite which is smaller than 3mm. It is also applied to deironing work in the process of coal, non-metal ores and building materials.
Generally speaking, the following things will affect the separation effect of the dry magnetic separator:
1. Feeding Layer Thickness: the particle size of the raw material and the content of magnetic-particle. For the coarse particle, the feeding layer usually will be thicker. The thickness of feeding layer is 1.5 times than the biggest particle size in the coarse ore; For the medium grained ore, its thickness usually the 4 times of the biggest particle size; for the fine ore, its thickness might be 10 times of the biggest particle size. If the content of magnetic-particle is lower, its thickness shall be thinner. Otherwise, the magnetic particle at the bottom layer will be pressed by the upper material and the magnetic power cannot absorb them, in this way, the recovery rate will be declined.
2. Magnetic field intensity and working clearance: when the working clearance is fixed, the intensity is determined by the turns numbers of the coil which cannot be adjust. So the intensity can only be adjusting by changing the size of magnetic current. During the fine selection of the strong magnetic ore, it is better to use weaker magnetic field; During the scavenging or the processing of weaker magnetic material, it is better to use stronger magnetic field.
