Working Principle and Structure of Cone Crusher

Raw materials are crushed by the working faces of the movable cone and fixed cone of cone crusher. Movable cone is supported by the spherical bearing and fixed on a suspended vertical spindle which is set in an eccentric sleeve. The eccentric sleeve is set on a thrust bearing.

Movable cone and vertical spindle are driven by the eccentric sleeve through the horizontal shaft, belt pulley and bevel gear. Belt pulley is driven by the electric motor through v-belt. The lower part of the vertical spindle is placed inside the eccentric sleeve. When the eccentric sleeve is rotating, the vertical spindle will move and just like drawing a circular conical surface. In this way, when the movable cone gets close to the fixed cone, the raw ore will be crushed.

Spring Cone crusher’s chassis has two parts, namely lower part and upper part which are connected by bolt. There is strong spring on the bolts which is mainly used to avoid damage of the important parts (main shaft) once some metal or hard objects (nut, drill bit) fall into the crushing chamber. At this time, the fixed cone will be lifted and the discharge opening will be enlarged. In this way, the metal or hard objects can be discharged. Sometimes, the discharge opening of cone crusher is adjusted by oil pressure or water pressure device.

Raw materials fall into the  symons cone crusher through the distribution plate which is installed on the upper part of the vertical spindle. When the vertical spindle is rotating, the plate will vibrate and raw materials will be evenly distributed all around the crushing chamber. By rotating hand shank of the ream or hinge, the fixed cone can go up or down to adjust the width of the discharge opening.

All parts of cone crusher are made of cast steel. Manganese steel liner will be mounted on the working faces of movable cone and fixed cone to avoid the damage of cone. When replaced the abraded liner with the new one, melting lead can be pour into the clearance between liner and the cone surface to make them adhere to each other closely.

Fine crushing cone crusher also knows as short head cone crusher. It has the same structure with the medium crushing cone crusher but the shape of their movable cone and fixed cone is different. Short head cone crusher has relatively shorter movable cone and fixed cone. Furthermore, the parallel band between the two cones are longer and the feeding opening and discharge opening is smaller, so its final crushed product is finer.
